The Concordia Film Festival has become a mainstay in the Montreal Film Festival scene, and now reaches an even wider audience through its association with MAtv. This week, films on the themes of Death, Celebration of Life, and Absurd Comedy. Also interviews with Xiaodong Zhu, director of the film ICU, and with Film Professor Rosanna Maule, who teaches at Concordia.

About the show

The Concordia Film Festival is a film festival run by students for students. We screen the works of films produced by Concordia Film Production and Animation students. We also host screenings of films by invited filmmakers from around the world and talks relating to the film industry or film studies. Now in its 46th year, the Concordia Film Festival has become a mainstay in the Montreal Film Festival scene. These episodes will include interviews with Film Professors and filmmakers at Concordia.

Siam Obregon

Co-Director of the Concordia Film Festival, Siam envisions building a platform to get experience in the organization of a festival, as well as offering a space for young filmmakers to showcase their own world through their films. Siam is an international student coming from Mexico, currently enrolled in her fourth year in the Film Production Program at Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema. Her active participation in the festival, as a filmmaker as well as Jury Coordinator, has allowed her to grow an interest in the new opportunities offered to this diverse generation of filmmakers.

Max Holzberg

Max Holzberg

Max Holzberg is the Co-Director of the Concordia Film Festival. During his mandate he plans to expand the festival’s profile beyond Concordia. His goal is to diversify the film festival, creating platforms for students of all backgrounds to share their story and have their voice heard. Prior to becoming director, Max was the Marketing Manager of the festival. He is a second-year Film Studies student at Concordia and plans to work in the industry after completing his degree. In his spare time, Max enjoys going to the cinema, taking photographs, spending time outside and listening to music.
