The art of ballet has propelled the world of dance in a variety of ways, and even though it has evolved, much of the classical training prevails. With a mesmerized public, it’s easy to understand why many young children dream of becoming professional ballet dancers. The choreographer’s vision, the costumes, the stage set, and of course, the quality of the dancers, all have an impact on the overall spectacle. It takes talent and extreme physical and mental discipline to become a recognized dancer. In this fourth episode, we discuss the hardship and beauty of ballet with professional dancer Maude Sabourin. We also have the pleasure to meet with Anik Bissonnette, one of the most accomplished ballet dancers in Québec, now Artistic Director of L’École Supérieure de Ballet du Québec. Finally, we interview Marc Lalonde, General Director of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, the very first professional ballet company in Québec.

Anne is an ardent Montrealer, lover of the arts and well-travelled curious individual. Growing up in a vibrant cultural environment, she practiced dancing, drawing, and piano. Studying business at HEC, graduating with a BBA and MSc, she did a significant project on cultural nonprofits. Anne volunteers in various arts organizations including the YPC of the MMFA. To engage her creative side, she established a brand/blog (Jano Lapin) where she reveals her enthusiasm for the art world she frequents.
